References in classic literature? Felt hat for women with kazakh's national eblems handwork from felt very warm and light Unique wool hat. I tucked a big feather in the space near one of the snap buttons to add some flair. Escape will close this window. Please see the last slide for an itemized list of materials.
Materials used to make the hat are the torso portion of a felted wool sweater, wool yarn and two large buttons. Choose a felted wool sweater with a bottom edge wider than its waist. Note that the bottom edge becomes the brim of the hat so beware of worn edges. In order to more easily work with the torso portion of the sweater, turn the sweater inside out and remove the sleeves by cutting inside the armhole seam.
Measure head size and adjust instructions as needed. The instructions given are for the most common women's head size circumference 22 inches. To adjust the size, increase or decrease measurements proportionally in reference to head circumference.
Turn the torso section right-side out. Match the side seams in the middle and pin them together. Rotate the felt about ninety degrees so the remaining fold is at the top.
This fold will be the top center of the hat. Mark each point with a pin. Cut through both layers of fabric from the right to the left, creating the curved lower neck edge of the hat. Use the pins as a guide. Thread the needle with about 30 inches of yarn, double it, and tie a single knot using both ends. Using a whip stitch, join the two layers of fabric on the right side of the fold starting at the bottom and sewing upward. This will create the center back hat seam.
Stop the seam about two inches from the fold, leaving a 2-inch hole. Knot the yarn on the inside. Thread the needle with about 24 inches of doubled yarn, knotting both strands together.
Finish with the shortest strip and tie another knot to secure. To create the tassel, roll or fold the strips together, sewing in place as needed. Insert the tassel into the 2-inch opening.
With the tassel perpendicular to the back seam, sew through the hat and tassel several times, securing the tassel in place. Finish with yarn to the inside and knot securely. Try the hat on and decide where to place the ties. The ties are decorative as well as functional and should be placed where they comfortably hold the hat on the head.
Generally the placement is even with the bottom edge of the back center neckline with the hat flattened and about 3 inches inside the front edge of the hat. Starting from the inside, sew the ties and buttons to each side of the hat.
Measure a inch line, two inches from, and parallel to, the bottom edge of the hat with the back seam in the center. Pull the thread and gather the fabric of the neckline to fit. The total seam length should be about 5 inches. There is a string to make it smaller, but it fits a 22 inch head fine. Probably too small for most men. Will make a nice tricorn, but brim too short for a bicorn. Got this hat to wear on a regular basis, and 6 months in I could not be happier with it.
The brim is just big enough to block the sun but not to big where it looks enormous. The hat fit well based on the size guide and I can confirm that the hat is indeed waterproof as well, I have worn it in the rain many times and my hair did not get wet, and the hat dried within minutes.
The only thing I have to say is that the description says they are imported but the parent company, Dorfman Pacific, says their factory is in Oakland, California.
Believe who you want, the hat's quality speaks for itself and is great wherever it comes from. One can only hope it comes from America so we can at least be making one good product these days.
Alot of the similar styled hats on here had crappy reviews so i was specitcal about this one I recommend this product! I purchased this hat because I was going to Europe during winter and don't care much for European hats especially the Russian type so I bought it.
There are many hats and I bought this because of looks, price and crush ability. I'm glad I got it as it was a good choice on all counts. My only issue was that during a recent wind storm it escaped my head, LOL so I wish I would of gotten a size smaller. If you think about getting it you probably won't regret it. In stock on October 20, I like this white felt gangster hat. It looks and feel like a real fedora hat.
I own 6 real fedora hats and this mobster fedora can pass as a real hat. Its more than just a costume hat you can wear it like a real fedora hat.
The only difference is the inside of the hat. It fits comfortable on my head and I wear a size large hat. This is a cool gangster hat. I love the Eustace Hat by Bailey. I have a few similar type hats, this one is possibly my favorite. This hat is exactly as described, it fits me well, but runs a little small compared to some other Medium Size hats that I have. The Pinch-Front design in the front of the hat's Crown isn't very pronounced, like a couple others same style that I have, which is totally fine with me.
I would highly recommend purchasing this hat. See All Buying Options. The hats fit most of the kids heads, but not all of them. If they were a half inch bigger, they would have been perfect. But they are good quality hats and held up for what I needed them for.
I would by them again.
